  • Man Accused Of Killing Woodland Massage Business Employee Has Court Hearing Monday

    WOODLAND (CBS13) – The man charged with the stabbing death of a massage business employee was scheduled to face a judge again today.
    Police arrested 27-year-old Rohail Sarwar after reviewing surveillance video at Cottonwood Massage.
    He’s pleading not guilty and has been given no opportunity for bail.
    Sarwar’s hearing was expected to happen at 8:30 a.m.
  • Garage Catches Fire In Citrus Heights

    CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) – A fire broke out at a garage at a Citrus Heights on Monday.
    The fire happened on Victory Way.  According to firefighters, the homeowner was working in the detached garage, using a candle for light, according to Sac Metro Fire statement. He tells firefighters he blew out the candle, but it reignited, causing a propane tank to explode.
    All of his tools were reported destroyed.
    No other structures were threatened.

  • Folsom Man Arrested On Child Sex Charges In Idaho

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A Folsom man accused of sex crimes with kids is in jail in Idaho.
    Investigators arrested Caleb Cameron Fife on eight sex charges from California.
    Police say only one victim has been identified. The 20-year old suspect will return to Sacramento to face a judge.

  • Fire At North Highlands Home Investigated As Arson

    NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) – An arson investigation is underway at a North Highlands home after the exterior of a home was allegedly set on fire.
    The blaze broke out around 3 a.m. in the 3900 block of Elkhorn Boulevard at a home where a woman and two children are living. Fortunately none of them were injured.

  • High-Flying Kite Concerns Authorities In East Sacramento

    EAST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A kite flew a bit too high in East Sacramento Sunday evening, causing concern for authorities in the air.
    A sheriff’s chopper spotted the kite, which they said was flying around 800 feet in the air.
    The chopper announced over the loudspeaker for the person flying the kite to bring it down.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The wildfire budget is nearly drained for the fiscal year with months still left in the season.

  • Caltrans: Interstate 5 To Remain Closed Indefinitely Due To Delta Fire

    REDDING (CBS13) — As the Delta Fire continues to burn in Shasta and Trinity counties, Caltrans announced that Interstate 5 will remain closed unitl further notice.
    I-5 will be closed between Redding and Mount Shasta, Caltrans said. The freeway has been closed since last Wednesday when the fire started north of Lakehead.
