  • Sutter Fire Chief Won’t Face Charges For Alleged Hit And Run, Public Intoxication

    SUTTER COUNTY (CBS13) — The district attorney’s office will not file charges against the Sutter County fire chief after he was involved in an alleged criminal hit and run.
    Chief John Shalowitz was originally arrested on suspicion of public intoxication following a collision and leaving the scene of the accident.

  • Fire Burning At Warehouses In Downtown Modesto

    9:30 UPDATE: Fire crews have gained control of the fire, but said they will be on the scene well into the night to mop up. Firefighters do not have an estimated time of clearing.
    Modesto fire confirmed that two large commercial buildings, one of which was Crescent Supply, were burned in the fire.
    Other than the one firefighter injured, no other injuries were reported from this fire.
    The cause is still under investigation.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento man is behind bars after showing up to his first day of court-ordered drug treatment classes and probation officers discovered 500 rounds of live ammunition in his vehicle.

  • Stockton Man Arrested In Connection To Lodi Double Homicide

    LODI (CBS13) — Lodi police announced Friday that they arrested a suspect in connection with the double homicide that occurred on Sunday in Lodi.
    Police arrested 24-year-old Jaime Mora of Stockton in connection with the homicides in the area of Cherokee Lane and Lodi Avenue.
    Police said Mora came to the police station to give a statement and was subsequently arrested and booked into the Lodi City Jail for homicide.

  • Two Of Three Apple Store Grab And Go Suspects Plead ‘Not Guilty’

    ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — Two of the three suspects involved in the Apple theft on Wednesday have been arraigned in court.

    Police say they received a report of a theft at the Galleria Mall Wednesday afternoon. After the report of theft, a police officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle and pursued the suspects,  Juwan Potter, Melvin Barlow, and Quincy Carter Jr. who were taken into custody.
