  • Modesto Boys Take Lip Sync Challenge To Thank Law Enforcement

    MODESTO (CBS13) – Law enforcement agencies nationwide are taking the “Lip Sync Challenge” and posting videos of officers singing and dancing along to popular songs.
    The Pacheco family in Modesto wanted to thank the Modesto and Oakdale Police Departments and recorded a #lipsyncchallenge video of their own. The boys dressed in police uniforms and sang along to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” in the family car and in the backyard.

  • Police: Woman Riding Bicycle Struck, Killed By Driver In Stockton

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – A woman riding a bike was struck and killed by a car early Monday afternoon, police say.
    The incident happened near Hammer Lane and Don Avenue around noon.

  • River Cats One Of League Leaders In Merchandise Sales

    WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – For the 18th straight season the Sacramento River Cats ranked in the Top 25 in licensed merchandise sales for Minor League Baseball teams.
    The River Cats are one of only six teams to make the list every year they’ve been in existence.
    The numbers are based in sales from January 1-December 31, 2017.
    Overall, the 160 Minor League franchises nationwide recorded nearly $71 million in retail sales.

  • Californians Urged To Conserve Power During Heat Wave

    FOLSOM (AP) – The operator of California’s electrical grid is calling for voluntary conservation of power due to high temperatures in most of the West, reduced electricity, tight natural gas supplies in the Southern California area and high wildfire risk.

  • Lathrop High Student, 17, Dies In Apparent Drowning

    LATHROP (CBS13) – A 17-year-old Lathrop High School student died in an apparent drowning over the weekend.
    The incident happened Saturday at the River Island development.
    Lathrop-Manteca Fire District officials say crews responded to the scene around 10:40 p.m. to investigate a reported drowning. Bystanders were able to communicate where the teen was last seen in the water and divers soon jumped in.

    FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – Solano County authorities are cracking down on dangerous “sideshows” happening on public streets.
    Over the weekend, California Highway Patrol focused their efforts on Solano County. A patrol aircraft soon spotted some cars doing some donuts at Lynch Canyon and American Canyon Road.Officers converged on the area, boxing in the suspects on both sides of McGreary Road between Red Top and American Canyon roads.

  • Arrest Made In February Killing Of 16-Year-Old Stockton Boy

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – A man has been arrested for a Stockton shooting that left a teenager dead in February.
    Stockton police say, back on Feb. 24, a 16-year-old boy was found shot inside a car parked in a parking lot along the 3100 block of W. Hammer Lane. The boy was taken to the hospital, but he was soon pronounced dead.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Authorities are investigating after a Sacramento police patrol vehicle collided with a teenager during a chase Sunday night.
    The scene was on Eleanor Avenue near Rio Linda Boulevard.

    LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) — A 60-year-old man had to be air rescued after crashing his mountain bike on the General Creek Trail Saturday.
    The CHP Valley Division Air Operations said the man broke his bones in the crash and due to the repose area of his accident, a CHP helicopter was requested to assist firefighters who were treating his injuries.
