    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Mosquitos in Sacramento and Yolo counties have been busy.
    The relatively small insects are creating a large and potentially deadly problem. The issue isn’t just that the West Nile Virus exists in the area, but that it appears to be increasing
    Friday, officials said 23 new mosquitos samples collected from the most affected areas all tested positive for the virus.

    WOODLAND (CBS13) – It’s a unique solution to California’s growing homeless crisis: Woodland city leaders are considering a plan to build a new outdoor encampment for the homeless.

    ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – Police in Roseville are warning residents to be diligent after a series of vandalism and burglaries in the area recently.

    ELK GROVE (CBS13) — An Elk Grove woman is facing a felony animal cruelty charge after allegedly killing her roommate’s pet python.
    She says she did it to save the feeder rats the snake was going to eat.

    CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – A suspected porch pirate was caught on a Ring Doorbell camera taking a package delivered just moments before to a Carmichael home.
    The homeowner sent CBS13 the video showing the man drive up in a blue truck, casually walk to the front porch, look around to see if anyone is watching, then take the package and run back to the truck.

  • Second Passenger Killed In Small Plane Crash Near Truckee Identified

    TRUCKEE (CBS13) – Authorities have identified the second person to die in a plane crash near Truckee Tuesday morning.
    The scene of the crash is near Mercer Flats. A single-engine Navion-B plane crashed on the west side of Highway 267 between Truckee and Northstar Resort, according to a spokesperson with the Federal Aviation Administration.
    The two people killed have been identified as pilot Kenneth Whittall-Scherfee, 60, of Carmichael and Peter C. Jackson, 55, of West Hollywood.
