    ALBION, N.Y. (WIVB) – An Albion woman has been charged with two counts of animal cruelty following a police investigation into the deaths of two of her pets.
    Suzanne K. Fredenburg of Lydun Drive was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Gaines Court.
    According to police reports, the Albion Police Department started an investigation involving allegations that Fredenburg had killed her pet cat and dog by suffocating them on Dec. 30.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The American Red Cross has opened a shelter in the City of Buffalo for residents forced to evacuate or without utilities due to severe flooding.
    The shelter is located at Winchester Elementary School, 650 Harlem Road. It is scheduled to stay open through Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

  • 18-year-old killed in two-vehicle accident in Hamburg

    HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – An 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Southwestern Boulevard near Erie County Community College around 6 a.m. Friday morning.
    According to Hamburg Police, a vehicle traveling eastbound crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a vehicle in the westbound lane.
    The driver and sole occupant of the eastbound vehicle, Jacob Butterfield, 18, of Derby, was pronounced dead at the scene.

  • Ice breaks free from Buffalo Creek due to mild temperatures

    WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Overnight in West Seneca ice from the Buffalo Creek broke free and instead of flowing downstream, big chunks of ice ended up all over Borden road.
    “We had about a half mile ice field come down from Elma and as it was coming down Buffalo Creek it got caught up and at the base of the Borden road bridge some of the ice spilled over into the road,” said John Gullo, West Seneca Emergency Manager.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – More than a hundred homeowners in South Buffalo are cleaning up from flooded basements after a huge ice jam by the South Park lift bridge backed up the Buffalo River Friday morning.

    DETROIT (AP) — Ford is telling owners of about 2,900 Ranger small pickup trucks not to drive them after finding out that an exploding Takata air bag inflator killed a driver in West Virginia.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — News 4 spoke with Buffalo Public Works Commissioner Steve Stepniak on Friday as the potential for flooding increased in south Buffalo.
