• 6 ice fishermen rescued from Lake Erie

    TOWN OF EVANS, N.Y. (WIVB)- Calls reporting people stranded on Lake Erie due to an ice shift began pouring into Town of Evans dispatch Sunday afternoon.
    Six ice fishermen were stranded by open water 150 yards off shore from Sturgeon Point Marina.
    Erie County Sheriff’s Air One rescued everyone in sets of two and brought them to safety on land.
    No injuries were reported.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Bills search for a new offensive coordinator lasted just two days and they’re bringing in a guy with plenty of championship experience and with ties to Western New York.
    On Sunday the team announced Brian Daboll, who graduated from St. Francis High School, has been hired as their new offensive coordinator.
    Daboll previously served as offensive coordinator in the NFL for the Browns, Dolphins and Chiefs.

  • 16-year-old killed in Elma car accident identified

    TOWN OF ELMA, N.Y. (WIVB)- State police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Bullis Road Sunday morning.
    Police say that a vehicle traveling westbound crossed the center line into the eastbound lane when it was struck by another vehicle.
    A 16-year-old passenger in the vehicle that crossed the line died. She was identified as Elma resident Rachel Lofaso.
    Four other people involved in the accident suffered non life threatening injuries.

    SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Schenectady Police are investigating how a car ended up partially submerged into the ice on Schenectady Central Park’s Iroquois Lake Sunday morning.
    Schenectady Police say a passerby called to report a car on the ice around 7:00 a.m. Sunday. When police arrived the car was empty. Tire tracks on the ice stretch all the way across the lake to the place where the car began to partially nose dive into the ice.

    LIMA, Peru (AP) — A powerful earthquake struck off Peru’s coast early Sunday, tumbling adobe homes in small, rural towns, killing at least one person and leaving dozens injured, officials said.
