• Red-hot Dow closes above 26,000 for the first time

    (CNN) –  The stock market is on fire. The Dow just zoomed another 300 points and closed above 26,000 for the first time.
    The latest rush to buy stocks left the average up almost 8,000 points since President Trump’s 2016 election.
     The rally on Wednesday gave the Dow its best percentage gain since since November. And it showed that the upward trend remains intact despite a big reversal the day before. The Dow hit 26,000 on Tuesday morning before closing much lower.

    MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Dale Earnhardt Jr. is warning North Carolina drivers not to venture out into a snowstorm after he slid off the road and hit a tree.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor.
    Michael V. Secchiaroli, 32, of Buffalo, faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 when he is sentenced May 1.

    Kimberly Litchner was accused of first-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent/physically disabled person — a felony charge.

    ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Alden man has been arrested after authorities say he shook his four-month-old baby.
    Joseph Jurek, 28, was charged with assault, reckless assault of a child, criminal possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child.
    The baby suffered a serious brain injury.
    Back in October, Jurek was charged after officials said about four pounds of marijuana and $3,800 cash was found in his home.

  • Navy filing homicide charges against 2 ship commanders

    WASHINGTON (AP) — The Navy says it is filing negligent homicide charges against the commanders of two ships involved in fatal collisions last year.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Changes could soon be in store for Buffalo’s waterfront.
    Waterfront Development is looking to revamp Buffalo’s Outer Harbor.
    The company is in the process of getting approval from the city for a $5 million improvement project.
    If approved, the project would transform nearly 12 acres of land into recreational space, bike trails, multi-use trails, event lawn space and habitat enhancements.
    The project will be completely funded by the Buffalo Billion.
