• Hiker Finds Human Skull, Remains In Remote Area Near Truckee

    TRUCKEE (AP) – Placer County authorities are trying to identify human remains discovered after a hiker came across a skull in a remote, wooded area near Truckee.
    Sheriff’s deputies and a search and rescue team found several additional bone fragments after a hiker discovered the skull near Highway 89 on Sunday.
    In addition to the remains, they found a weathered, old campsite where they’re searching for additional clues.

  • Convicted East Bay Armed Robber Escapes From Prison

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The search is on for a convict who reportedly walked away from an inmate camp Tuesday morning.
    Between the 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. prisoner counts, convicted armed robber Justin Tyquiengco left the Washington Ridge Conservation Camp in Nevada County.  Authorities believe he may be headed to the Bay Area, according to a statement from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

    SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY (CBS13) – Authorities say a suspect led them on a chase through three counties before finally being taken into custody.
    The incident started early Wednesday morning. California Highway Patrol’s Oakland division says they started chasing a suspect on eastbound Highway 24 around 1 a.m.
