    EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) – The latest information on a wildfire burning in El Dorado County on Thursday:
    1:29 p.m.
    Cal Fire officials say forward progress of the fire has been stopped.
    The fire jumped onto the north side of Highway 50, but firefighters say it only managed to burn about 50 feet onto the other side. About 10 acres have burned so far, Cal Fire says.
    Highway 50 remains closed in both directions in the area.

  • 1 Person Injured, Homes Damaged After Gas Line Rupture Fire In Citrus Heights

    CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) – A ruptured gas line spewed flames high into the air in Citrus Heights on Thursday.
    Work was being done in front of the Amsell Court home when the line was accidentally cut and ignited, officials say. Sacramento Metro Fire, Folsom Fire Department, Citrus Heights police, and SMUD personnel responded to the incident.
    The court was evacuated as a precaution.
    A SMUD employee suffered minor injuries. The fire caused minor damage to two nearby homes.

    VACAVILLE (CBS13) – Police are asking for help in finding the parents or guardians of a young child found walking unattended in a Vacaville neighborhood Thursday morning.

  • Court Ruling Allows Homeless To Sleep On Public Property Without Citation

    SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) — Camping out in public is no longer illegal, according to a court ruling that passed just a few weeks ago.
    The ruling came down from San Francisco’s Ninth Circuit of Appeals. It states law enforcement cannot cite or arrest a homeless person for sleeping on public property if the city or county doesn’t have enough shelter beds.

    YUBA CITY (CBS13) —  An elementary school student was exposed to rabies Monday after a child found a bat and took it to their school in Yuba City.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A ramp closure may change your weekend plans, but if you plan ahead the detour shouldn’t add too much strain to your drive.
    Caltrans has scheduled a 55-hour closure of a Business 80 onramp near Arden Fair mall. The closure will only affect the onramp heading to Reno.
