    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The latest on an officer-involved shooting incident in Rancho Cordova:
    3:50 p.m.
    A neighbor near the scene says he saw the arrest play out on the other side of his fence.
    “You could hear the bullets whizzing by,” said a neighbor near the scene of the shooting.
    He says the suspect was laying out in the street as deputies yelled orders to him to lay flat on the street.

    ROCKLIN (CBS13) – A silver fox believed to be a product of illegal pet trade was discovered in the Rocklin area, rescuers say.
    Gold Country Wildlife Rescue says the fox was picked up recently. Rescuers noted it had little fear of humans, leading them to believe it had either escaped for been released from illegal pet traders.

  • Striping Work Means Intermittent Lane Closures On I-80 In High Sierra This Week

    TRUCKEE (CBS13) – Sierra drivers are being asked to be patient as striping work begins on Interstate 80 this week.
    The stretch of freeway from Truckee to Stateline is slated for the work.
    The work, which includes removing and replacing the striping, begins Monday and is scheduled to run 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Thursday.
    Caltrans says the striping work will prompt various lane closures on both sides of I-80.

    FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – A scared, abandoned dog that was found tied to a tree was made an honorary K9 by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office.
    The dog was found by animal control officers Sunday night at an undisclosed location.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Westbound Interstate 80 is back open after a fiery crash closed lanes overnight.
    The crash happened just before 2 a.m. Monday on the bridge just east of Reed Avenue.

    According to CHP, the Truckee Fire Protection District responded to the Pacific Crest trail for the man who fractured his leg.
    Because of the remote location, the helicopter (H-20) landed and transported him to a waiting ambulance.
    The patient was then transported to the Tahoe Forest Hospital for additional treatment.

    OAKDALE (CBS13) — An Oakdale family is adjusting to life after their father got into a tragic accident.
    Jon Cavnar was injured in an accident where doctors were not sure if they could save his leg.
    After a head-on collision, Cavnar started feeling down.
    “The circumstances started taking a toll and I need help with everything, and I started getting down,” Cavnar said.
