    ELK GROVE (CBS13) – An overturned big rig is causing a traffic back-up on southbound Interstate 5 near Elk Grove early Monday afternoon.

    According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened a little after 12:30 p.m. It is unclear what led up to the crash, but a big rig can be seen on its side in the median dividing the north and southbound sides of I-5.

  • CHP: Woman Trying To Cross Highway 99 In Lodi Struck, Killed By Pickup

    LODI (CBS13) – A woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Lodi late Monday morning, California Highway Patrol says.
    The incident happened along Highway 99 and Turnet Road.
    CHP says, a little after 11 a.m., a person driving a Chevy Silverado heading south on Highway 99 struck a woman who had run into the number one traffic lane, throwing her into the center median.

    WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – West Sacramento city leaders will discuss a sales tax increase to raise salaries for city police.
    City council will vote on Monday night whether to place a quarter-cent sales tax increase on the November ballot, bumping the tax up to 8.25 percent.

    EL DORADO HILLS (CBS13) – Deputies are investigating after someone threw a bunch of fake $100 bills onto a busy street over the weekend.
    The incident happened Saturday along El Dorado Hills Boulevard.
    It’s not clear how many fake bills were thrown out, but the incident prompted drivers and others to wander into the street to try and pick up the “cash.”

  • Fire Destroys Classroom At Grant High School

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Authorities are investigating after a classroom at Grant High School caught fire late Sunday night.
    Firefighters responded to the school on Grand Avenue just before 10:30 p.m.
    Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy flames coming from one of the classrooms. Firefighters say it was difficult to get water on the flames due to the room’s location.

    WILTON (CBS13) — A laborer in Wilton has life-threatening injuries after being attacked with a hammer Sunday, according to Sacramento Sheriffs.
    Sheriffs say that the laborer brought friends to work with him on a property in Wilton, but one of the friends attacked him with a hammer.

    LAKE COUNTY (CBS13) — After burning for two straight weeks, the Pawnee Fire is finally 100 percent contained.
    In all, the fire burned 15,185 acres and destroyed 22 structures in Lake County.

    9:30 p.m. UPDATE: The Oregon Street fire is now over 150 acres, according to Chris Vessel of Sacramento Metro Fire.

    STOCKTON (CBS13) — Police are investigating an Officer Involved Shooting that occurred in Stockton early Sunday morning.
