  • Roseville Police Catch Bank Robbery Suspect After Chase, Crash

    ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – A man is under arrest after a bank robbery that prompted a chase and ended in a crash Tuesday morning.
    Roseville police did not say exactly which bank was robbed, but a little after 9:30 a.m. someone called to report that a man inside a bank had pulled out a gun and demanded money. The man took off after getting an undisclosed amount of cash.
    Officers converged on the area quickly and spotted a car suspected to be linked to the suspect.

  • Bagley III Will Miss Rest Of Summer League

    LAS VEGAS (CBS13) – Kings rookie Marvin Bagley III will miss the remainder of the NBA Summer League.
    The #2 draft pick bruised his pelvic bone on Saturday during the Las Vegas Summer League game against Phoenix. At the time the Kings said the forward experienced a “tweak in his right hip flexor/groin area.”
    An MRI Monday showed the bruise to the pelvic bone. He is expected to miss 1-2 weeks before returning to full basketball activity.

  • Pool Will Open At Grant Union High After Public Backlash

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The swimming pool at Grant Union High School in Del Paso Heights will open to the public Wednesday, July 11.
    The announcement comes after public backlash about the decision to close the pool for the summer due to construction.
    The $6 million pool will now open Monday-Friday from 2 pm until 6 pm from July 11 until August 17. It will stay closed on the weekends and during school hours.

  • Man Arrested For Arson In Connection With Million-Dollar Grant High Fire

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police have arrested a man accused of starting the fire at Grant High School Sunday that caused extensive damage.
    Just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday, firefighters responded to the school on Grand Avenue. There, firefighters found heavy flames coming from one of the classrooms. They say it was difficult to get water on the flames due to the room’s location. In total, the fire caused about $1,000,000 in damage.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Scary moments for a California Highway Patrol officer Tuesday morning after his motorcycle was clipped while he was investigating another accident.
    The scene was on northbound Highway 99, just north of 47th Avenue.
    CHP says a motorcycle patrol officer was clearing the scene of a different accident in the area when, for an unknown reason, a box truck driver lost control. The box truck then clipped the motorcycle and another car that was stopped.

  • Major Renovations Planned At Sacramento Zoo

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Changes are coming to the Sacramento Zoo.
    A post on the Zoo’s website revealed a number of improvements and changes being made to the 91-year-old zoo, including expanding the lion exhibit, adding meerkats and okapi, and re-locating several animals to other parts of the zoo and other zoos in the country.

  • Deputies: Man Lit Auburn-Area Condo On Fire With Mom, Baby Inside

    AUBURN (CBS13) – Detectives have arrested a man who lit a condo on fire with a mother and baby inside.
    The incident happened back on July 3 at a condominium along the 11000 block of Garnet Way.
    The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says witnesses spotted a man allegedly pouring fuel on the door of the condo’s laundry room and lighting it. The laundry area was right under a baby’s bedroom.

    DIXON (CBS13) – Some residents are planning to protest the Dixon’s vice mayor during a council meeting Tuesday night.

    Maryhouse is asking for diaper donations in all sizes. It’s a daytime shelter through Sacramento Loaves and Fishes.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) –  Reported hate crimes jumped more than 17 percent in California last year compared with 2016, though the incidents remain relatively rare, the state’s attorney general said Monday.
