    STOCKTON (CBS13) – The mother of Stockton twins who have been missing since the beginning of 2018 has been found incompetent to stand trial.
    Thursday, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s office announced that a judge had found Princess Canez-Walker incompetent. The judge made the ruling based off of evaluations made by doctors appointed by the court.

  • Two Placer County Sex Offenders Arrested For Fleeing The State

    PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) — Two sex offenders were arrested in Placer County last week for violating their registration requirements by moving out of state.
    The arrests were a joint effort between the Placer County Sheriff’s detectives, Placer County Probation, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
    The first offender, Donald Hornby, 51, was arrested by U.S. Marshals on an outstanding Placer County felony no-bail warrant after he fled to Washington state.

  • County Fire Grows To 86,000 Acres, 30 Percent Containment

    GUINDA (AP) — Fire officials say cooler weather did little to diminish a massive blaze in Northern California threatening more than 1,400 buildings.
    California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said Thursday the fire burning northwest of Sacramento grew overnight to 86,000 acres, or 134 square miles (347 square kilometers).

  • Tahoe Fireworks Barge Catches Fire After Fourth Of July Show

    SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) – A fireworks barge caught fire after a Fourth of July show Wednesday night on Lake Tahoe.
    The incident happened after the “Lights on the Lake” fireworks show in South Lake Tahoe.
    Tahoe-Douglas fire crews extinguished the flames within six minutes using a fire boat. Firefighters deployed a boom around the barge to contain any possible contamination.
    No injuries were reported.

  • Kings Suing Downtown Commons Tower Contractor For Cost Overrun

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Sacramento Kings are suing the contractor of their downtown hotel tower, claiming mismanagement has caused the project to skyrocket as much as $50 million over budget.
    The 16-story tower along J Street is a part of the Kings Downtown Commons project that is still under construction. The Kings claim costs were initially estimated at $148 million but now say the contractor, Swinerton Builders of San Francisco, has put the costs between $194-$198 million.
