• Modesto Boy, 2, Drowns After Falling Into Family Pool

    MODESTO (CBS13) – A two-year-old boy has died after drowning in a family pool in Modesto.
    The incident happened on Friday evening along the 1500 block of January Drive.
    Modesto police say, around 7 p.m. that day, family at the home lost track of a child. A family member soon found the child in the pool and called 911.
    Medics got to the scene quickly and he was rushed to the hospital, but he was soon pronounced dead.

    The show was scheduled to happen on Tuesday as part of Independence Day celebrations.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Rents are continuing to rise across Sacramento, according to a report from Apartment List.
    Rent for a two bedroom is up 3.5 percent year-over-year, including half a percent is just last month.
    In fact, according to Apartment List, there have been six consecutive months of rent increases in Sacramento.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – One person is dead after being struck by multiple drivers in Sacramento.
    It happened just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday on Folsom Boulevard near Mayhew Road.
    Investigators say initially the victim was hit by a driver who fled the scene and then was later struck by several other drivers.
    At this time, no suspect nor victim information is available.

    MODESTO (CBS13) — An arson suspect was caught on camera Friday, now the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit is asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect.
    The suspect was caught on surveillance video biking into a parking lot and throwing an object over a fence. While in the air, it appears the object is on fire. The suspect is then seen riding away.

    LAKE COUNTY (CBS13) — The Pawnee Fire, which started over a week ago, has now grown to 14,500 acres and is 73% contained.
    The fire sparked up again Saturday during the gusty dry heat and grew from 13,700 acres and 65% containment Friday afternoon to 13,850 acres with 73% containment Saturday night.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A Sacramento man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after authorities say he placed an online advertisement looking for a mother who would let him have sex with her daughter.
    The Sacramento Bee reports 59-year-old George Hristovski was sentenced Friday in Sacramento federal court for attempted enticement of a minor.
