    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The UB Women’s Basketball team made history on Saturday, winning their first NCAA Tournament game in program history with a rout over No. 6 South Florida, 102-79.
    Cierra Dillard led the way with 36 points, including a 7-for-13 effort from beyond the arc. As a team, the Bulls hit a season best 14 3-pointers.
    With the victory the Bulls advance to the 2nd Round where they will face No. 3 Florida State, which dispatched #14 Arkansas Little Rock 91-49.

  • Motorcycle rider injured at Shrine Circus

    HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB)– An accident occurred at the Shrine Circus Saturday afternoon in Hamburg.
    23-year-old Tyler Burke of Sarasota, Florida crashed while performing as a motorcycle rider in the Motorcycle Globe of Death.
    He suffered a broken collarbone among other injuries and is currently hospitalized, according to Lyons Media.
    The Shrine Circus’s other shows at the Hamburg Fairgrounds will go on as scheduled at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. today and three shows Sunday at 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m.
  • Driver loses control of vehicle, strikes pole and fence in Niagara Falls

    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB)— Just after 5 a.m. Saturday morning the Niagara Falls Police Crash Management Team responded to the scene of a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of 10th Street and Buffalo Avenue.
    Upon arrival, investigators say a 38-year-old man driving a 2014 Dodge Charger lost control of the vehicle around a curve while traveling southwest-bound on Buffalo Avenue.

    BOSTON, N.Y. (WIVB)— A barn fire closed down portions of Mayer Road and Zimmerman Road late Friday night in Boston.
    The North Boston Volunteer Fire Company said upon arrival the barn was fully engulfed.
    Crews on scene were able to save the main house, garage, and building containing maple syrup evaporator (the owners home and business) with minor damage.

    WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A dog that United Airlines mistakenly flew to Japan is back with its family in Kansas.
    The 10-year-old German shepherd named Irgo arrived at a Wichita airport Thursday night after a flight on a private plane that United chartered from Japan.
    Kara Swindle and her two children took a United flight Tuesday from Oregon to Kansas City, Missouri, during a move to Wichita, Kansas.
    When they went to pick up Irgo, they were shown a Great Dane that was supposed to go to Japan.

    NEW YORK (AP) — Aretha Franklin is canceling two upcoming concerts on doctor’s orders.
    The Queen of Soul’s management team says in a statement Friday that Franklin will not perform March 25 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey. That show would have taken place on her 76th birthday.
