• Confederate monument removed from Oklahoma elementary school

    TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A public school district in Oklahoma has removed a monument at an elementary school that was dedicated to Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
    Tulsa Public Schools said the nearly century-old monument was removed and replaced with bricks on Tuesday. A district spokeswoman said “a community partner” covered the cost, and that the Tulsa Historical Society will preserve the monument.

  • Body found in lower Niagara River by Youngstown

    YOUNGSTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) – The U..S. Coast Guard recovered the body of an unknown white male from the lower Niagara River Wednesday.
    According to a press release from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, a citizen called around 1:13 p.m. to report a possible body along the coastline of a residence in the area of 135 Main Street in Youngstown.
    The body was secured by the county coroner.
    The Niagara County Sheriff”s Criminal Investigation bureau is investigating.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- It’s a club Gary Astridge never wanted to be a part of.

  • Recall: Kidde Smoke Alarms

    (WBRE/WYOU-TV) –  The Kidde Company is recalling Dual Sensor smoke alarms.
    The concern there is a risk the alarms will not alert consumers to a fire in their home.
    The issue involves a yellow cap left on during the manufacturing process that can cover one of the two sensors and compromise the ability to detect smoke.
    The smoke alarms were sold from September 2016 through January 2018 for between 20 and 40 dollars at Walmart, Home Depot, Menards, and other home and hardware stores

    ARCADE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Three Florida residents are facing charges after engaging Arcade Police in pursuit through the village and into the Town of Sardinia on Monday.

  • Police evacuate area near Austin bombing suspect’s home

    ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP modified) — The SUV where the Austin bombing suspect blew himself up has been hauled away.
    Crews loaded the red vehicle and two large white vans that apparently forced the SUV off the road onto flat-bed trucks which then drove away.
    Bomb squads subsequently began checking the ground under where the vehicles had been parked.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) says two local business sold alcohol to a minor during an undercover sting operation.
    On Sunday, a minor visited 27 different businesses, but most of them refused to sell them alcohol.
    The minor was able to buy alcohol at Bill’s Food Mart at 32 Allen St. and Allentown Food Shoppe at 76 Elmwood Ave.
    The businesses that refused to sell alcohol to the minor were restaurants, bars, convenience stores and liquor stores.

    GREAT MILLS, Md. — A teenager with a handgun opened fire inside his Maryland high school Tuesday before he was fatally wounded during a confrontation with a school resource officer, a sheriff said. Deputies and federal agents converged on the crime scene at Great Mills High School, about 65 miles southeast of Washington.
