  • Homeless man pleads guilty in strangulation death of another homeless man

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A homeless man has pleaded guilty in the death of another homeless man inside of a vacant home on West Avenue in the City of Buffalo.
    Peter Isaacs, 38, pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter in State Supreme Court Friday.
    According to the Erie County DA’s office, Isaacs strangled Preston German, 46, of Buffalo following an argument.
    Isaacs faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced May 23.

    FREWSBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 21-year-old Frewsburg man has been charged with forgery and signing a false statement following an investigation into counterfeit currency.

  • Clarence teen sentenced for attempted murder

    CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Clarence teen was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder.
    Last March, Zachery Aroix and two others lured someone to a construction site off of Gentwood Dr. There, they tried to rob him at gunpoint.
    Using a shotgun, Aroix shot the victim in the leg when he tried to escape.
    He pleaded guilty to attempted murder last month.
    In addition to his prison sentence, Aroix, who is now 18, will also spend 2.5 years on probation.

  • Garbage truck, pickup truck collide in Genesee County

    STAFFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) — A garbage truck and a pickup truck collided in Genesee County on Friday morning.
    The crash occurred at Route 5 and Clipnock Rd. in Stafford around 6:30 a.m.
    Sources tell News 4 the pickup truck was headed west and the garbage truck was headed east at the time of the crash.
    The garbage truck driver was not hurt, but the other driver was seriously injured and taken to UMMC.

    STAFFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) — A garbage truck and a pickup truck collided in Genesee County on Friday morning, resulting in the death of a Batavia man.
    The crash occurred at Route 5 and Clipnock Rd. in Stafford shortly before 6:30 a.m.
    The Genesee County Sheriff’s office says the pickup truck was headed west on Route 5, which was covered in snow, when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

  • Driver saves students from burning school bus in Cattaraugus County

    TOWN OF YORKSHIRE, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police say a quick-thinking bus driver is to thank for saving three students in Cattaraugus County Friday morning.
    The First Student bus was travelling on Townline Road in the Town of Yorkshire just before 7 a.m. when the driver reported some engine issues.

  • Children, driver escape school bus fire in Cattaraugus County

    TOWN OF YORKSHIRE, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State police say a bus was fully engulfed by fire in Cattaraugus County.
    They posted a photo on Friday morning.
    The Pioneer school district bus, which was seen on Townline Rd. in the Town of Yorkshire, had a driver and three kids on board. They were safely evacuated without injuries.
    An engine issue may have caused the fire, State police say.

  • Cows roam I-86 near Elmira

    ELMIRA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Emergency crews had some trouble getting traffic “mooving” Thursday night.
    I-86 eastbound near Elmira was completely blocked off by at least a dozen cows.
    Two tractor trailers and a car were involved in a crash.
    The cows roamed the highway during recovery efforts.
    The road later reopened, and the cows are back where they belong, but it’s still not clear what happened.
