    WESTERVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Police in Ohio say two officers have been fatally shot at a home in a Columbus suburb, and a suspect is in custody.Westerville police say in a statement that the shootings happened Saturday after officers responded to a 911 hang-up call around 11:30 a.m. The officers were shot after they arrived at a residence.

  • Chautauqua County sheriff deputy with leukemia dies

    CLEVELAND, OH. (WIVB) — A Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputy who had been fighting to survive leukemia lost that fight on Friday night.
    The Facebook page “Fight for Seeley” published a post, indicating “End of Watch” for Deputy Michael Seeley just after 11:00 p.m.
    At age 43, the father of two was diagnosed with leukemia, and the group was formed to help him and his family.A fundraiser was held in September 2017, with another one scheduled in early March 2018.

  • Unionized Wendt Corporation workers rally on Friday

    CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Unionized workers at the Wendt Corporation held a rally Friday morning outside of the Cheektowaga building.
    The union says Wendt is laying off workers after they formed the union last June.
    The workers claim the company has dragged its feet in negotiating a new contract and now says it has to lay off workers.
    Wendt released a statement to News 4 saying that they were extremely disappointed by what they called a lack of truthfulness in the union’s claims.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Daemen shot 50 percent from the floor and had three players reach doubles figures in a 77-70 over their I-90 rivals from Robert Wesleyan on Friday.
    With the win, the Wildcats push their winning streak to three straight as they improve to 17-7 overall and 11-3 in conference action.
    Aleks Miljenovic led the way with 19, as Andrew Sischo added 18 while Jay Sarkis chipped in with 15.

  • Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Kenmore Avenue

    KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Kenmore Avenue Friday night in front of Price Rite.
    The pedestrian was transported to the hospital and the scene was under investigation Friday night.
    Police weren’t able to release any more information Friday night.

(WIVB) – Jim Kelly and wife Jill are both currently in the same hospital, the couple’s daughter Erin Kelly-Bean posted on Instagram Friday.Jill Kelly has been in the hospital since Wednesday, battling pneumonia. Within a day, Jim Kelly was in the hospital next to her, having his gallbladder removed.
    Kelly-Bean asked for prayers for her family in her Friday post.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A North Buffalo woman is upset with the University at Buffalo over how they handled her grandfather’s body.
    Heather Petri was adopted by her grandmother and her grandfather at the age of 12. Her grandfather, Richard Petri died of a heart attack Wednesday. He was a decorated veteran who donated his body to science through UB’s Anatomical Gift Program.
