    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Alpine Skier Tricia Mangan heading to the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says the county recovered more restitution money in unemployment benefit fraud cases than any other county in New York last year.
    The office says unemployment fraud is the “most prevalent crime against state revenue.”

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz and Erie County Health Commissioner Dr. Gale Burstein announced that a positive case of Hepatitis A was found in Erie County.
    The person with the illness worked at Al-E-Oops Restaurant in Lancaster and Brookdale Senior Living in Williamsville.
    Erie County leaders say there is no continued risk, as of Tuesday afternoon. They feel optimistic that they can identify people who may have been impacted.

    (AP) — A routine National Weather Service test on Tuesday resulted in a false push notification to mobile phones about a tsunami warning, giving jolt to many residents on the East Coast.
    A glitch meant some people received what looked like an actual warning, NWS meteorologist Hendricus Lulofs said. The National Weather Service is trying to sort what went wrong, he said.

    CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — It’s almost showtime for SpaceX’s big new rocket with a cherry-red sports car on top.

  • Witness in Joseph Percoco trial claims Percoco worked on bribery schemes with him for six years

    ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) – The star witness in the Joseph Percoco trial said they worked together on bribery schemes.
    Todd Howe took the stand Monday in Manhattan. Percoco is a former top aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
    He is accused of taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes.
    Howe pleaded guilty to bribery and corruption charges in 2016.
    He claims he worked with Percoco on bribery schemes for six years.
    Percoco has not testified so far- his lawyers claim he did nothing wrong.

    LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — John Mahoney, best known for his role as Martin Crane in TV’s “Frasier,” has died. He was 77.
    Mahoney’s manager confirmed Monday that he died in Chicago on Sunday while in hospice care.

  • Buffalo Police investigating early Monday morning robbery at Grant and Potomac

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Police are investigating a robbery that occurred around 12 a.m. Monday morning at Grant Street and Potomac Avenue.
    The victim told police that three unknown black men approached him on the 200 block of Potomac and displayed three weapons. The suspects made off with a cell phone and a number of other personal items.
