  • Snow melt damages Chautauqua Institution’s 1907 organ

    CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. (AP) — Water from melting snow has damaged one of the world’s largest outdoor pipe organs — the 111-year-old Massey Memorial Organ at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York.Officials at the summer arts retreat say they hope to have it restored in time for the 2018 season.

    SALAMANCA, N.Y. (WIVB)- The Salamanca School district will be closed Sunday evening through Tuesday morning.

  • South Carolina train crash leaves 2 dead, nearly 90 hurt

     CAYCE, S.C. (AP) — A crash between an Amtrak passenger train and a CSX freight train near South Carolina’s capital killed two people and injured nearly 90 early Sunday, authorities said. It was the third deadly wreck involving Amtrak in less than two months.
    Amtrak’s Silver Star was heading from New York to Miami with eight crew members and about 140 passengers when the crash happened around 2:45 a.m. near Cayce, authorities said.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — First responders were called to an early morning car crash at the corner of Victoria Avenue, and Hill Street around 1:30 this morning.
    The car ran into a front porch of the home.
    Buffalo police have not released information to News 4 at this time.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — First responders were called to an early morning car crash around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
    Buffalo police say a female lost control of her vehicle and struck a house on Hill Street. She was taken to ECMC where she was treated & released.
    Police say there was significant damage to the house and they are investigating whether or not alcohol was involved. No charges have been filed at this time.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo police could be getting a new tool — tasers. The department says it’s the very early stages of researching the devices. Captain Jeff Rinaldo says the SWAT team is the only part of the department that has and uses tasers.

  • Buffalo Man Shot, Drives Self to Hospital

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Police say a 27-year-old Buffalo man was shot in the leg while sitting in a parked car.
    That happened around 5:30 p.m. Saturday February, 3rd.
    The victim drove himself to E.C.M.C. where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
    Detectives are trying to determine if the shooting happened near the Towne Gardens area.
    They have not named a suspect in the shooting, and are still investigating.
    The victim is expected to be okay.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Jaylen Adams scored a career-high 40 points and hit a career-best eight 3-pointers to lift St. Bonaventure to an 84-81 road win over the Duquense Saturday night.
    Tied at 81 in the final seconds, Adams connected on his eighth 3-pointer of the night to give the Bonnies an 84-81 lead.
    The 40 points were the most scored by an opponent at the Polumbo Center as the Bonnies picked up their fourth straight win to improve to 15-6 overall and 5-4 in Atlantic-10 play.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Dozens of people joined local and state leaders in statewide rallies Saturday to demand more federal aid to help Puerto Rico relief efforts.     After missing out on Hall of Fame induction each of the last two years, Owens finally received his call to join the best-of-the-best in Canton.
