    RIPLEY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Chautauqua County man is facing several charges after attempting to evade arrest by Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies Friday morning.

  • Cheektowaga man, 23, charged with criminal possession of a weapon

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 23-year-old Cheektowaga man has been found guilty of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
    Raekwon Barnes was arrested April 3 by a parole officer during a parole search of his home after the officer discovered a loaded and operable firearm in the basement.
    Barnes faces a minimum of seven years and a maximum of 15 years in prison with five years post-release supervision as a second violent felony offender when he is sentenced Feb. 20.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 27-year-old Buffalo man has been charged with the fatal shooting of a Buffalo man at a neighborhood block party in July 2015.
    Cornelius Jones has been charged with second degree murder and second degree criminal possession of a weapon. It’s alleged that he fatally shot Dequan Griggs at a neighborhood party on Montana Street July 5, 2015.
    Jones pleaded not guilty and was taken into custody. Bail was set at $125,000.

  • Officials expect more flooding along Lake Ontario this spring

    NEWFANE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Public officials along the Lake Ontario shoreline say right now, all signs point toward more flooding this spring. In 2017, several communities along the lake were ripped apart by the high waters.

  • VIDEO: Damaged tractor-trailer seen on Thruway

    (WIVB) — Drivers may have spotted an unusual sight on the Thruway this past Wednesday.
    A tractor trailer was seen with significant damage on the I-90 eastbound near the Depew exit.
    The New York State Thruway Authority says the trailer was hauling aluminum, and that the damage was caused by the load shifting.

    CATTARAUGUS COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVB) — 25 pigs were taken from a farm in Cattaraugus County.
    It is not clear where in the county the pigs were, but the Cattaraugus County SPCA confirmed to News 4 that they worked with Farm Sanctuary to remove some of the animals on Tuesday.
    In all, there were 85 pigs at the farm.

  • Woman charged with aggravated DWI after trying to pick up child at daycare

    TOWN OF VICTOR, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police arrested a woman they say was drunk when she tried to pick up a child from daycare.
    Authorities say Stephanie Kukurudza, 39, showed up to the daycare facility in Victor on Thursday.
