Americans are not happy with the way things are going in America.
Breaking news, right? We've long heard about how the rise of the Tea Party in 2010 and the subsequent rise of both Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders in the current presidential election are manifestations of this discontent.
But in a blog post on Thursday, former Federal Reserve chair Ben Bernanke notes that while satisfaction with the country at large is low, Americans are fairly bullish on their own economic prospects.

Americans feel great about the economy, despite what they're saying

A great migration of trading talent is about to start
The UK is leaving Europe.
More than 17 million people voted last week for the country to leave the EU, winning a referendum and triggering the resignation of the country's prime minister and a downgrade of its credit rating.
Oh, and England's soccer team got knocked out of the European Championship.
There is still much to be decided, but it's clear that financial firms are not hanging around to wait and see how the situation plays out from here.
The race for financial firms to move sta -
Here's how Europeans feel about their dismal economic situations
Europe's economy as a whole and individual European economies have been sort of not good since the global financial crisis.
So we decided to take a deeper look at how Europeans feel about this.
Using data from the fall 2015 Eurobarometer report, for which fieldwork was conducted in November, we put together a chart showing Europeans' perceptions of the EU economy as a whole compared with those of their own countries' economies.
Respondents from major developed-market economies, including Germany -

GOLDMAN: We're entering 'the late stages' of this cycle
This corporate-credit cycle is almost over.
Several signs point to the end of this credit cycle, possibly within a 12-month timeframe, according to Michael Swell, cohead of global portfolio management at Goldman Sachs.
"Credit looks expensive and we're starting to enter the late stages of the credit cycle," Swell said during a panel discussion at UBS' CIO Global Forum on Thursday.
"We are a little bit concerned about corporations' ability to be able to meet their deb -
Warren Buffett has asked the Fed if he can own more than 10% of Wells Fargo
Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway now own more than 10% of America's biggest bank.
The famed investor applied to the Federal Reserve on Friday to increase his firm's stake in Wells Fargo above 10%, according to a filing obtained by Business Insider.
Hitting the 10% level automatically requires a disclosure from the investor in order to hold such a large stake.
The filing indicates that Buffett's stake first passed the threshold on March 1 of this year. As of that point Berkshire owned 10.012 -
The world's economic 'canary in the coal mine' faces a growing threat
South Korea's export data for June has been released, and the numbers are slightly better than expected. The data suggests that South Korea's second-quarter exports have, to some extent, bounced back from the first quarter's lows.
The country's export value rose 9.9% versus last month, compared to a 0.7% YoY drop in May. Excluding ship exports, which often inflate the numbers, export value still improved by 3.6%.
This seems to bode well for the global economy. South Korea is known as an econ -
Here's who is going to get crushed by the coming 'tsunami' in the debt market
It's going to get ugly in the bond market soon, and there are a few companies that have more reason to worry than others.
Matthew Mish, a credit strategist at UBS, has been worried about the bond market for some time now.
The combination of lower profits, higher borrowing costs, and tighter lending standards has him calling for a "tsunami" of defaults to hit the high-yield-bond market soon.
This wave, however, will not treat each sector equally, according to Mish.
The energy sector is alrea -

GM's recent sales miss isn't as bad as it looks (GM)
Automakers are reporting June sales on Friday, and so far they've been mostly solid, setting a 2016 sales pace that would see over 17 million new cars and trucks sold by the end of 2016.
General Motors saw sales decline 1.7% in June versus the same month last year, about as much as twice what was expected by analysts.
Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, meanwhile, were up about 6.5%.
This might lead one to conclude that GM is slipping relative to the competition, particularly when it comes to sa
