    COLFAX, Calif. (CBS13) – Two teens are under arrest for allegedly launching items from a train trestle down on Interstate 80 near Colfax.

    The incidents were first reported in mid-October in the area of Carpenter Road near Colfax. Numerous vehicles were damaged and one driver says she received cuts when an object hit her windshield, breaking it, according to a statement from the CHP office in Gold Run.

  • Sacramento Sheriff Releases Video Of Events Leading Up To In-Custody Death Of Marshall Miles

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Investigators have released real-time video of the arrest the preceded the in-custody death of a suspect from back in October.
    Deputies were investigating a report of a man jumping on cars and ripping off windshield wipers near Watt Avenue and A Street in the North Sacramento area back on Oct. 28. The man – identified as Marshall Miles – was soon found and detained.

  • 3 Killed In Early Morning Crash In Turlock

    TURLOCK (CBS13) – An early morning crash claimed the life of three people in Turlock on Sunday, police say.
    According to the Turlock Police Department, officers responded to the 400 block of N. Golden State Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. to investigate a crash.
    At the scene, officers found that a car had gone off the road and crashed into a tree and a light pole.
    Three people were killed in the crash, police say. The names of the three people killed have not been released.

  • Mama Bear, Cub Break Into Tahoe-Area Home And Ransack The Place

    PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) – A mother bear and her cub made themselves at home in one Lake Tahoe area rental and left behind a mess.
    The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday deputies arrived at a home on the West Shore and found the mama bear and her cub enjoying a snack.

  • Suspect Arrested After Man Shot, Killed In Broad Daylight Along Bike Trail

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police have a man in custody accused of fatally shooting another man along a popular bike trail over the weekend.
    Omari O’neil, 38, is facing homicide charges.

    The shooting happened in Del Paso Heights around noon on Saturday.
    Officers say they started CPR on the victim, but he was later pronounced dead by medics at the scene.
    The victim’s name has not been released.

    PARADISE (AP) – Monday marks a return to school and some semblance of routine for thousands of children who lost their homes to a deadly wildfire in Northern California.

  • Foothill High School Coach Arrested For Sexual Assault Of Student

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested 32-year-old Foothill High School Basketball Head Coach Stephen Calton on Thursday.  He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for Felony Oral Copulation with a person under the age of 18 according to a Sacramento Sheriff’s Department press release.

  • Some Evacuation Orders Lifted For Camp Fire

    PARADISE (AP/CBS13) — Authorities are lifting evacuation orders for some Butte County communities ravaged by the state’s deadliest wildfire but said no traffic will be allowed into the town of Paradise, which was the most devastated community in the Camp Fire last month.
    The Butte County Sheriff’s office on Sunday said residents of neighborhoods in nearby Magalia can return to the area at noon on Sunday and public access would resume 24 hours later.
