  DAVIS, Calif. (AP) – Jake Maier threw for 310 yards and a touchdown and UC Davis beat Northern Iowa 23-16 on Saturday night in the second round of the FCS playoffs.

• Car Ends Up Vertical After Running Into Telephone Pole

  CARMICHAEL (CBS13) — A car ended up in a precarious position Saturday after running into a pole.
  Sacramento Metro Fire said the incident happened around noon at 7540 Fair Oaks Blvd. in Carmichael. They said the car drove off the road into the pole.

  DEL PASO HEIGHTS (CBS13) — A man was shot and killed Saturday morning on a popular bike trail in Del Paso Heights.

• Police: Dispute Between Roommates Turns Deadly When Man Shoots His Relative

  CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) — A man is behind bars after reportedly shooting his roommate during a dispute in their Citrus Heights home Friday.
  Michael Ryan, 66, was taken into custody and booked into the Sacramento County Jail after the shooting which resulted in the death of his roommate.
  Citrus Heights police said they received a 911 call at 11:50 p.m. Friday from a man, Ryan, who said he had just shot a man in the 6800 block of Trovita Way.
