  SACRAMENTO (AP) – Flames already were tearing through a Northern California town earlier this month when Pacific Gas & Electric Co. made the decision that improved weather conditions meant it wouldn’t have to shut off power to the area as a precaution against wildfires, according to documents filed by the utility.

  PARADISE (AP) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency says up to 2,000 trailers could be used to help house survivors of a Northern California wildfire that has killed at least 88 people and destroyed 13,000 homes.
  Toney Raines, head of FEMA’s housing task force, says survivors could begin living in the trailers sometime this week. He says the 2,000 figure is just an estimate and could come down.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A Sacramento homeless shelter will stay open until the end of the year.
  Tuesday night, city officials voted to extend services at the winter Triage Shelter on Railroad Drive.
  The measure passed with a two-thirds vote, keeping the homeless shelter at least until Dec. 31.
  The vote also increased the not-to-exceed amount to $295,000 and allows officials to provide portable restrooms and shower trailer rentals while services last.

  GALT (CBS13) — A 29-year-old man is in jail after leading police in a high-speed chase early Monday morning.
  Just after midnight on Monday, Galt police said they attempted to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle near North Lincoln Way.
