  CHICO (AP) – A U.S. judge overseeing a criminal case involving Pacific Gas & Electric Co. is asking the utility to explain any role it may have played in a massive wildfire that destroyed a Northern California town.

• PETA Honors Truckee Police For Compassion In Bear Cub Rescue

  TRUCKEE (CBS13/AP) – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is recognizing a police force at Lake Tahoe for its compassionate treatment of a bear cub that was trapped in a garbage bin.
  The national animal rights group presented Truckee Police Department this week with the Compassionate Police Department Award after officers in the town just north of Lake Tahoe freed the cub on Oct. 26.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Gun stores across California are reportedly seeing a boost in shoppers ahead of a new law taking effect next year.
  A portion of Proposition 63 – which takes effect in July – requires a background check to buy ammunition.

  RIO VISTA (CBS13) — A man flying a World War I replica bi-plane flipped over Monday while practicing landing in crosswinds at Rio Vista Municipal Airport, police said.
