    MODESTO (CBS13) – Stanislaus Animal Services Agency will start using facial recognition technology to help reunite lost pets with their owners.
    Starting August 8, every dog and cat entering the shelter system will be registered on Finding Rover.
    Pet owners looking for their lost pets can use the website to search the shelter and surrounding areas. Pet parents can also pre-register their dogs and cats in case those animals ever get out. Registration is free and involves uploading a pet phot

  • 60 DMV Locations Will Now Be Open Every Saturday

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — What better way is there to spend a Saturday than at the DMV?
    In an effort to reduce wait times, the DMV announced Wednesday that they will be open every Saturday at 60 locations, starting this Saturday, August 4.
    This comes after California lawmakers questioned the long wait times at the offices.
    The DMV started the Saturday service in June but was open every other weekend at only 43 locations.

  • Stockton Animal Shelter Full And Pets Are In Desperate Need Of Adopters

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – The City of Stockton Animal Shelter is warning it’s full and will have to start euthanizing animals if adoptions aren’t made to free up space.
    Officials announced Wednesday that the shelter had no more room for incoming animals.
    City of #Stockton Animal Shelter is at full capacity, which means if it does not get rescues to pull animals, adopters to adopt and owners to redeem their animals, humane euthanasia will be the only option for shelter animals.

  • Reddit Hacked, Email Addresses And Old Database Accessed

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A hacker accessed Reddit and stole some user data, including email addresses and a 2007 database containing old salted and hashed passwords and content.
    The hacker also accessed the logs containing email digests from June 3-17, 2018. Those digests “connect a username to the associated email address and contain suggested posts from select popular and safe-for-work subreddits you subscribe to.”

  • Placerville Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Stalking, Criminal Threats

    AUBURN (CBS13) – A Placerville man arrested for stalking and threatening employees of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company earlier this year, has been sentenced to ten years in prison.
    The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says Lloyd Dylan Jones harassed the employees, despite a restraining order.
    During a search of the 37-year-old’s home, detectives found numerous firearms – including two illegal assault rifles, two ballistic vests and about 6,000 rounds of ammunition.

    AUBURN (CBS13) – The scenic Foresthill Bridge overlooking Auburn has sadly become the end of the road for so many.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Frontier Airlines is returning to Sacramento with flights starting on Wednesday night.
    The airline is starting its nonstop flights to Denver on Wednesday. It will fly out of Sacramento starting with a 7:40 p.m. flight. It will be the first of four weekly trips between the cities.

    AUBURN (CBS13) — More than two dozen people evacuated a Greyhound bus after a man blasted the bus with pepper spray on Tuesday night.
    The bus was bound for Sacramento from Reno, but had to make an emergency stop in Auburn.
    In all, 27 people were on board the bus. Many were treated for pepper spray exposure, and one woman was treated for a broken leg after trying to jump out of the window to escape the agony.

    FOLSOM, Calif. (AP) – Officials say a state inmate is suspected of killing his cellmate at a Northern California prison.
    California State Prison, Sacramento, correctional Lt. LeVance Quinn said Tuesday that a guard spotted 32-year-old Sergio J. Castaneda III lying unresponsive on his cell floor late Monday.
    Investigators at the high-security prison east of Sacramento named his cellmate, 47-year-old Arthur Lane, as a suspect.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A man died in police custody on Tuesday morning after a plastic bag was found in his throat, Sacramento Police said on Tuesday.
