    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A scary crash along a Sacramento-area freeway saw a sedan get pinned under a big rig.
    The scene was along the southbound Highway 99, south of Florin Road.
    California Highway Patrol officials say, around 12:30 p.m., a sedan got pinned under a big rig in the slow lane of the freeway. It’s unclear what led up to the crash.

    NEW YORK (AP) — Facebook says it has uncovered “sophisticated” efforts, possibly linked to Russia, to influence U.S. politics on its platforms.
    The company says it removed 32 accounts from Facebook and Instagram because they were involved in “coordinated” behavior and appeared to be fake.

    ORANGE, Conn. (AP) – Investigators say a California man was struck and killed on a Connecticut highway after he accidentally dropped his cellphone out the window of a vehicle and then got out to retrieve it.
    State police on Tuesday identified the man who died in the Monday morning crash on Interstate 95 in Orange as 34-year-old Hoa Ngo, of Sacramento.

  • New Placer County Shelter Accepts Carr Fire Dogs Before Opening

    PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) — Nearly a dozen dogs threatened by the Carr Fire are now taking shelter at the Placer County SPCA.
    The Humane Society in Redding got set for evacuation as the flames closed in, so a team of local SPCA officials picked up the pups on Monday.

  • Water Main Break In Rocklin Causes Road Closure, Detours

    ROCKLIN (CBS13) – A water main break has closed part of Midas Avenue in Rocklin until further notice.
    The water main break happened Monday morning and closed Midas Avenue from Mountain View Drive to Clover Valley Road. Traffic is being detoured to Argonaut Avenue, Sunset Boulevard, and Pacific Street.
    Placer County Water Agency is on-site with representatives from the City of Rocklin to assess the damage and work on the impacts.
