    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – California is considering creating a “fake news” advisory group in order to monitor information posted and spread on social media.
    Senate Bill 1424 would require the California Attorney General to create the advisory committee by April 1, 2019. It would need to consist of at least one person from the Department of Justice, representatives from social media providers, civil liberties advocates, and First Amendment scholars.

    Senate Bill 1001 would make it illegal for businesses to use bots in order to “incentivize a purchase or sale of goods or services in a commercial transaction or to influence a vote in an election” without disclosing the information to the consumer.

    Sacramento– (CBS13 News) Firefighters spent most of the afternoon and evening Sunday battling what they named the Flat Fire in rural Tuolumne County.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Local fire agencies are banding together to fight the fires in Tehama County.
    The Stoll and Lane Fires started Saturday and evacuations are in place for both. The Stoll Fire is 500 acres and 50 percent contained. The Lane Fire is 3,000 acres and 10 percent contained.

    CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Wind-driven wildfires destroyed buildings and threatened hundreds of others Sunday as they raced across dry brush in rural Northern California.
