• Byron Lockwood confirmed as Buffalo Police commissioner

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Byron Lockwood was sworn in as the new Buffalo Police commissioner Tuesday during a meeting of the Buffalo Common Council.
    The common council voted unanimously to appoint Lockwood during the same meeting.

  • Former Brockport kindergarten teacher pleads guilty to child porn charge

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A former Brockport kindergarten teacher has pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge.
    Roland Yockel II, 31, of Hilton, pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography.
    According to the assistant U.S. attorney handling the case, Homeland Security Investigation special agents in Phoenix became involved in an ongoing child pornography investigation, along with investigators from New Zealand.

  • Crime Stoppers receives nearly 70 tips about opioid dealers in first 24 hours after announcing reward money for tips

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – One day after the Erie County DA and Buffalo Crime Stoppers announced rewards of up to $2,500 for information about opioid dealers, the Crime Stoppers line has received almost 70 tips.

     NEW YORK (AP) –– The jury foreman at the bribery trial of a former top aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the jurors can only agree that they disagree.   The message was delivered Tuesday in a series of notes at the trial of Joseph Percoco and three businessmen.     SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas — Two people have been arrested after appearing at the Texas church where more than two-dozen worshipers were gunned down and claiming the attack was staged.     NEW YORK (NEWS10) – Still no verdict in sight for the corruption trial of one of Governor Cuomo’s former top aides, Joseph Percoco.

  • Five people escape 3 alarm fire in Genesee County

    Batavia, N.Y. (WIVB) – A three alarm fire tore through a home in Batavia.
    It happened early Tuesday morning on Columbia avenue. Flames started in the basement before spreading to the first and second floors.
    Five people were in the home at the time, but everyone was able to get out safely. A dog also escaped the flames.
    The more than 100-year-old house is likely a totally loss.
