    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – All Buffalo Public Schools will be closed Friday , Jan. 5, amid forecasts of extremely low temperatures.
    Central Office staff will report.
    All schools will be open Thursday, Jan. 4. All afterschool activities, including adult education and athletics will be canceled for Thursday.
    All school Saturday programs will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 6.
    Lockport Schools are also closing Friday.

  • Man accused of Dollar General shooting indicted on attempted murder charges

    CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) —The man accused of opening fire on a Cheektowaga Dollar General has been indicted on attempted murder charges.
    Travis Green faced a judge Wednesday morning.
    Police say that in November, the 29-year-old fired dozens of round outside the Dollar General on Union Rd.
    A 53-year-old man was shot twice in the shoulder, but he survived.
    In addition to attempted murder, Green faces attempted assault, reckless endangerment and weapons charges.

  • Traffic diverted after accident on I-190

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo police diverted traffic after an accident on I-190 NB Wednesday morning.
    The two-vehicle accident occurred near the Peace Bridge exit. Police were directing traffic to that exit and onto Niagara St.
    The left lane of I-190 NB was closed in that area as a result of the accident.
    New York State Police say minor injuries resulted from the crash.

    TOWN OF KIANTONE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A teenager was charged after two people were stabbed in Chautauqua County.

  • Officials: More than 50 kilograms of suspected cocaine seized at bridge

    NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ontario (WIVB) — Authorities in Canada say they seized nearly 50 kilograms of suspected cocaine at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge.
    This past November, a Toronto man was hauling a load of plastic resin pellets when he arrived at the bridge.

    DEPEW, N.Y. (WIVB) – Drivers involved in a multi-vehicle pileup on the Thruway warmed up at Salvatore’s Garden Place Hotel Tuesday night.
