  Numerous officers teamed with community members in South Sacramento to paint fences, remove debris, and pick up trash.

• Massive Sideshow Busted In North Sacramento

  NORTH SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — California Highway Patrol says it busted a massive illegal sideshow in North Sacramento tonight.
  Officers say it started around 9:30 with reports of cars racing in North Highlands near Antelope Road.
  When CHP arrived, they say they found several hundred vehicles driving recklessly close to hundreds of bystanders.
  One of the cars reportedly tried to speed away but crashed into a nearby home. That driver was arrested.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Fair Oaks Boulevard is back open tonight after sheriff’s deputies investigated a suspicious package inside a postal box. The busy road was closed off and on briefly this evening.
  Deputies say the package was found at a business on Fair Oaks near Fulton Avenue.

  They say State Route 89 was closed in both directions because of a major accident.

  This has been a Sacramento tradition for 45 years now.

  NEWCASTLE (CBS13) — Deputies in Placer County arrested a man after a wild series of events last night.
  They say 25-year-old Christopher Kalian of Auburn pepper sprayed a female acquaintance at a Denny’s restaurant in Newcastle.
  They say when they arrived, Kalian took off. When they found him a short time later at a nearby gas station, he swung a golf club at them. They say they had to use a K-9 and a taser to subdue him.

  VACAVILLE (CBS13) — One person is dead and another behind bars after an early morning crash on Interstate 80 at the Nut Tree exit.
  Police say a drunk driver, a 34-year-old man from Sacramento, was going the wrong way around 1:30 this morning when he slammed, head-first into an oncoming car.
  The driver of that car, a 38-year-old man also from Sacramento, died at a nearby hospital.
