    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Sacramento Kings return home tonight to play the Portland Trail Blazers in an attempt to gain some ground in the Western Conference.
    The Kings lost against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

  • Gas Meter Causes Fire At Stockton Auto Body Shop

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – A gas meter caught fire outside of a Stockton business early this morning and the flames quickly spread inside J&B Body and Paint and an adjacent empty storefront.
    No one was inside either building on Country Club Boulevard at the time of the fire.

  • Two Stockton Firefighters Injured During Early Morning Fire

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – Two Stockton firefighters were injured while fighting a 5-alarm fire in Stockton early this morning.
    The fire burned the old YMCA building on Center Street. The 3-story building is made of wood and isn’t currently in use, but a woman was hanging out of the window when firefighters arrived. She told crews as many as ten people were inside the abandoned building. Firefighters checked and found only two people inside. Both were rescued.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot is estimated at $425 million, making it the 8th largest in that lottery’s history. The cash option is an estimated $254.6 million.

  • Girl Born in Fairfield Believed to Be 1st Northern Bay Area Baby of 2019

    FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) — The Bay Area’s first baby of 2019 is apparently a girl born at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.
    The healthy girl was born at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday to Elesha Matte and Kamehameha Quitugua of Fairfield, according to Lanette Matte, Elesha’s sister, also a Fairfield resident.
    “This is (Elesha’s) 10th child, but this pregnancy was a little harder,” said Lanette, noting that Elesha’s labor was induced starting about 11 a.m. Monday.

  • Stockton and Auburn Kmart Stores Closing In March, Liquidation Sales Start In Two Weeks

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – The Kmart on East Mariposa Road in Stockton and Bell Road in Auburn are two of 80 stores owned by Sears Holding Corp. that will close by the end of March. Liquidation sales will reportedly start in two weeks.
    In addition to the Kmart stores in Stockton and Auburn, Sears will close 3 other Kmart stores in California.

  • Placer High Boy’s Basketball Team Suspended During Investigation Into Hazing Allegations

    AUBURN (CBS13) — The Placer High School boy’s basketball team has been suspended as the district looks into hazing allegations.
    The school’s officials say members of the junior varsity boy’s basketball team have reported harassment and hazing by other team members.
    The report of the alleged incident first surfaced on Dec. 26. Several staff members have also been placed on administrative leave as officials investigate.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Many shoppers at Arden Fair mall experienced terrifying moments after hundreds of teens stormed the mall causing fights and leaving some people badly injured.
    The series of brawls happened within the last few days.  Mayor Darrell Steinberg is now recommending a ban on all unaccompanied minors as a temporary solution.

  • Skateboarder Recovering After Suspected Drunk Driving Crash In Citrus Heights

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento woman is still recovering after a suspected DUI hit and run in Citrus Heights. It happened last Thursday on Auburn Boulevard near Charwood Lane.
    Kelly Cass, 27, was on her skateboard when an alleged drunk driver hit her, sending her into his windshield.

  • Four Suspects Plead ‘Not Guilty’ To Aiding And Abetting Man Accused Of Killing Newman Officer

    STANISLAUS COUNTY (CBS13) — Four of the seven people arrested for aiding and abetting the suspect in the Newman officer shooting have had their first appearance in court Monday.
    The suspects, Erik Razo Quiroz, Adrian Virgen, Ana Leydy Cervantes, and Conrado Virgen Mendoza, were arraigned on a single felony charge for helping Gustavo Perez Arriaga avoid arrest.

  • Two Suspects Arrested For Shooting In WinCo Parking Lot That Injured A 15-Year-Old

    ELK GROVE (CBS13) — Police have arrested two suspects for a shooting in a WinCo parking lot that happened Friday morning.
    The Elk Grove Police Department said that one suspect, a 17-year-old from Sacramento turned himself in on Sunday. With help from the Sacramento Police Department, officers arrested 21-year-old Davonntay Jones-Carnes of Elk Grove in the La Riveria Drive area of Sacramento Monday.

  • Inmate Firefighter Escapes From Northern California Camp

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Corrections officials are searching for an inmate who escaped from a minimum security facility in Northern California.
    The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says 32-year-old Nicolas Dunning was discovered missing from the Konocti Conservation Camp Monday morning.
