• Officials Searching For Anyone Possibly Exposed To Rabid Bat Found Near Rancho Cordova Target

    RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – County health officials are looking for anyone who may have handled a rabid bat found near the Rancho Cordova Target last week.
    Sacramento County Public Health said earlier they were looking for a woman who turned the bat in at the Olson Drive Target store on Sept. 19. Officials said it was crucial that they identify the woman as soon as possible as the bat had tested positive for rabies – meaning the woman would need to have possible anti-rabies treatment.

  • Woodland Middle Schooler Hurt In Hit-And-Run While Walking To School

    WOODLAND (CBS13) – Authorities are looking for the driver who hit a Woodland middle schooler and took off.
    The incident happened back on Sept. 20. Woodland police say, a little before 8:30 a.m., a Lee Middle School student was walking to school when they were hit by a vehicle in the intersection of West and Court streets.
    Police say the student suffered moderate injuries. Medics took the middle schooler to the UC Davis Medical Center.

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – Police in Stockton are looking for a suspect who apparently followed a 69-year-old woman home and ambushed her.
    The incident happened back on Sept. 10 at an undisclosed neighborhood in Stockton.

  • Sacramento Couple Rescues Woman And Grandchildren From Burning Car

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A dramatic rescue of two children and a woman from a burning car was caught on video Wednesday.
    The rescue happened on Interstate 80 and Madison Avenue in Sacramento when Kenneth Knox noticed flames shooting out from underneath a car and knew he needed to do something.
    The car Knox saw had a woman driving her two grandchildren buckled in the back.
    “Flames came out of both sides,” said Knox.

  • Suspects Arrested In Murder Of Lodi Doctor Appear In Court

    STOCKTON (CBS13) — The 79-year-old man arrested for the murder of a doctor appeared in front of a judge on Thursday along with three other suspects.
    The fourth suspect was arrested on Wednesday night.
    Dr. Thomas Shock was gunned down at his doorway two months after the state ordered the surrender of his license following a complaint filed against him by the wife of one of the suspects.

  • Deadly Car Crash On I-5 In Woodland Affecting Traffic

    WOODLAND (CBS13) — A multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 5 turned fatal Thursday afternoon, according to CHP.
    At least four cars were involved in the accident which happened around 3:49 p.m. Thursday between Main Street and Co. Road 102 on I-5 in Woodland.One lane remains open for traffic to pass by on southbound I-5.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A week after Sacramento Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Stasyuk was killed in the line of duty, his family and loved ones prepare for his memorial service Saturday.

    FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — Firefighters are working to knock down a two-alarm fire on the 600 block of Cement Hill road.
    According to the Fairfield Fire Department, the fire started after 2:30 p.m. Thursday at a residential structure. Heavy smoke can be seen in the area.
