• Woman Arrested On Arson Charge In Connection With Fire Along Vacaville Freeway

    VACAVILLE (CBS13) – Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a string of fires along a Vacaville freeway that police are calling suspicious.
    The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday on he shoulder of Interstate 80 at the Interstate 505 interchange. Firefighters from the Vacaville Fire Department and Vacaville police were on the scene, according to a statement from the CHP who were also on-scene.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Hours before a hearing is set to begin at the State Capitol about the long wait times at the DMV, the department announced a number of new measures to help reduce those wait times.

  • Person Dies In House Fire In Gated Roseville Community

    ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – Authorities say a person has died after a fire at a home in a gated Roseville community Tuesday morning.
    The scene is on Hazeltine Lane, off of PFE Road, in southwest Roseville.
    It appears the fire started in the garage of the home.

    FONTANA, Calif. (AP) – Authorities say one person died and 23 were hospitalized after attending last weekend’s HARD Summer music festival in Southern California.
    The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says Andrew Cole Click of Tracy, California was pronounced dead at a hospital at 11:45 p.m. Sunday. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of his death.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The death of a 21-year-old PG&E employee while working in the area of the Carr Fire is now under investigation.
    The young man was an apprentice lineman for the utility company. Authorities say he was on an unpaved access road when his vehicle crashed.
    Officials say the utility worker was restoring power Saturday near Whiskeytown lake at the time of the crash. Now, his employer and the National Park Service are looking into his death.

    LAKEPORT, Calif. (AP) – Twin Northern California blazes fueled by dry vegetation and hot, windy weather grew Monday to become the second-largest wildfire in state history, becoming the norm as climate change makes the fire season longer and more severe.
    The two fires burning a few miles apart and known as the Mendocino Complex have scorched 428 square miles since igniting July 27 about 100 miles  north of San Francisco, the state’s firefighting agency said.
