• Police: Man On Horse Arrested For DUI After Boy Trampled At Parade

    COLUSA (CBS13) – A man is facing DUI charges after he lost control of a horse he was riding and a boy was trampled, police say.
    The incident happened during the Colusa County Fair parade last Friday. According to the Colusa Police Department, just after 7:30 p.m., a horse walking in the parade trampled an 8-year-old boy near 10th and Parkhill streets.
    Police say the boy suffered injuries to his legs.

    EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) – The Benicia teen accused of killing his father, his father’s fiancée and the couple’s 8-year-old son has been convicted of murder.
    Back in September 2015, the remains of the Adam Buchanan, Molly McAfee and their son Gavin were found in a burned-out cabin in the Greenwood area of El Dorado County. Nolen Buchanan, then 16, was later arrested for the deaths.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The California Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system will be down for 24 hours June 23-24. Users will not be able to access their EBT benefits during this time.
    The Department of Social Services sent out a letter and posted the information on its website warning people to plan ahead for their shopping needs and getting cash.   • More Than One Million Passengers Came Through SMF In May

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – More than one million passengers flew in and out of Sacramento International Airport in May- the most in more than a decade.
    1.052 million passengers officially moved through SMF last month. It was a 12.3% increase over May 2017 and the highest since July 2017.

  • Portuguese Prime Minister Visits California, Meets With Gov. Brown To Boost Ties

    SACRAMENTO (AP) — Portugal’s prime minister and other officials are visiting the California state Senate to boost ties between the two governments.
    Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins said Thursday that California has the largest population of Portuguese Americans, at more than 300,000 people. She says California and Portugal are signing a memorandum of understanding on clean energy. Its details weren’t immediately available.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Detectives are investigating a homicide after the body of a man was found in Sacramento.
    The man’s body was found early Tuesday afternoon, near Northgate Boulevard and Highway 160.
    Officers responded to the scene to investigate a report of a body found by a passerby. Officers soon found the body and started canvassing the area for witnesses and evidence.

  • Caught On Camera: Man Opens Package On Elk Grove Porch Before Taking Boxes

    ELK GROVE (CBS13) – An apparent porch pirate was caught on surveillance camera going through boxes on an Elk Grove porch and then stealing the packages.
    The video recorded using a Ring doorbell shows the man using a knife to open a large Crate & Barrel box, looking at what was inside, then grabbing that and a smaller Amazon box before running back to his car.
    The homeowner did report the incident to Elk Grove police.
