    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Noah Phillips picked up a key endorsement in his bid to become Sacramento County District Attorney. US Senator Kamala Harris pledged her support to the candidate. Both are Democrats.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Verizon Wireless launched a new $40-a-month cell phone service.
    Visible is an unlimited plan that comes with no contract; however, it’s only available on unlocked iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, or iPhone X. It doesn’t support Android or other phone manufacturers yet. Those phones can not be tied to a carrier.

  • Air Canada Starting Nonstop Service From Sac to Vancouver

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento International Airport is adding another international flight.
    Air Canada will start nonstop service between Sacramento and Vancouver starting May 17. The daily flight from Sacramento will depart at 11:45am and arrive in Vancouver at 1:57pm. The return flight will depart Vancouver at 8:55am and arrive at 11:06am.

  • Facebook Suspends 200 Apps Over Data Concerns

    MENLO PARK (CBS13) – Facebook suspended approximately 200 apps after investigating how they handle user data.
    The creators of the apps currently suspended have been notified, although Facebook wouldn’t give the names of the apps involved. All of the apps will be subject to a more thorough investigation to see how and why they use the data they’ve collected. If it’s found the data was misused then those apps would be banned and Facebook would notify users.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – More than 300,000 cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and early syphilis were diagnosed in California in 2017- a 45% increase in just 5 years.
    The California Department of Public Health released its yearly report Monday, calling 2017 a record year for cases.
    The statistics show chlamydia and gonorrhea rates were highest among those under age 30. Young women made up the majority of chlamydia cases; men accounted for the majority of syphilis and gonorrhea cases.

  • Police: 10 Children Rescued From Filthy Fairfield Home; Mother And Father Arrested

    FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – Police say an investigation into the living conditions of a Fairfield family has resulted in the arrest of a mother and father and 10 kids being taken into protective custody.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – There is a baby snow leopard at the Sacramento Zoo!
    Misha gave birth to two snow leopard cubs on May 6th- the first snow leopard births at the Sacramento Zoo since 2006.

    COURTLAND (CBS13) – Five people have been taken to the hospital after a head-on crash on Highway 160 in the Delta Monday morning.
    The scene is just south of Steamboat Acres LP.
    California Highway Patrol says a Mustang was heading south on Highway 160 when, for an unknown reason, it swerved into the northbound lane. The car then collided head-on with a Ford Ranger.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento County Sheriff investigators continue to seek the public’s help in identifying the remains of a woman found in the Mokelumne River last month.
