• Billionaire Backs Kevin de León in US Senate bid

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California billionaire Tom Steyer is endorsing state Sen. Kevin de León, the Democrat challenging U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
    He could provide an influx of cash that de León badly needs to increase his name recognition. But Steyer tells the Los Angeles Times he doesn’t have “concrete plans” yet for creating an independent expenditure group to boost de León.
    Steyer is a former hedge fund manager and huge Democratic donor.
  • 1 Person Killed, 1 Injured In Fire At Nevada County Airport Hangar

    NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) – Authorities say one person was killed and another person injured after a fire broke out in a hangar at the Nevada County Airport Wednesday morning.
    The fire started around 8:30 a.m. in the Cirrus Aircraft service hangar while three workers were inside. One person died in the fire, a second employee, a female, was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, and the third, a man, got out safely.

  • Thieves Steal FFA Trailer In Galt

    GALT (CBS13) – A trailer belonging to the California FFA was stolen overnight.
    Around 3:01 a.m. Wednesday, thieves in a pickup truck made off with the white Wells Cargo Trailer parked at the California FFA Center. Among the stolen items were awards and merchandise for the State FFA Leadership Conference, according to a statement from the California FAA.

    GALT (CBS13) – Another brazen thief in Galt has left students and leaders scrambling to re-organize a state convention set to begin in just days.
    A trailer packed with convention materials was taken right from the parking lot of the Future Farmers of America. The thief stole thousands of dollars of items including 8,000 Disneyland tickets.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Sacramento region ranks 5th in the nation for worst ozone pollution, up 3 spots since 2017. The American Lung Association revealed the ranking in its annual “State of the Air” report. The Modesto region also made the top 10- coming in 7th in the nation. Last year it ranked 6th.

    OAKLAND (AP) — Scientists, emergency managers and others have released a study describing plausible impacts from a hypothetical magnitude 7 earthquake on the Hayward fault, which has long been considered a major threat to the San Francisco Bay region.
