• Sacramento Police Release More Footage From Stephon Clark Shooting

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Sacramento Police Department has released more video from the March 18 incident where Stephon Clark was shot and killed by officers.
    In total, 23 in-car camera footage and 28 body-cam footage was released on Monday. Two 911 call audio files and the rest of the video from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department’s helicopter were also released.
    Police say the new videos show officers responding to the scene after Clark was shot.

  • Bear Gets Stuck Inside Pickup Truck, Tears Inside Apart

    SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) – Never forget that Tahoe is bear country.
    The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office says, late Monday morning, a bear managed to get into a man’s pickup truck parked in South Lake Tahoe.

    You see, bears are pretty good at getting into unlocked cars when looking for food.
    However, while this bear managed to get in, it somehow managed to get itself locked inside the truck.

  • Police: Track, Likely From Mountain Lion, Found Near Winters

    WINTERS (CBS13) – Authorities are asking Winters residents to be on alert after tracks from a mountain lion were discovered near town.
    The Winters Police Department says officers were called to inspect some bones found on a bike path behind the city’s PG&E facility. The bones belonged to an animal, police say, but something else of interest was discovered nearby.

  • NFL Banning 10 Helmet Varieties

    NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL for the first time is prohibiting certain helmets from being worn by players.
    In notifying the 32 teams Monday, the league has sought to have players stop using 10 helmet varieties. Some of those, particularly those manufactured by Rawlings, no longer are being made and don’t have support from the company. Others were found to as inferior to many of the 34 helmets the NFL and the players’ union examined.

  • Clerk Slaps Hand, Scares Off Would-Be Robber In Lockeford

    LOCKEFORD (CBS13) – A search is on for a “burger bandit” who tried to rob a Lockeford Burger King earlier this month.
    The incident happened on April 2. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office says a man walked up to the counter, ordered a drink and then gave the clerk a $5 bill.
    Once the register was open, the man showed off what looked to be a handgun in his waistband.  The man then reached in towards the till, but the clerk slapped away his hand.

  • Preliminary 3.9 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Near San Jose

    SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck in the hills east of San Jose Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
    The USGS reports that the earthquake struck at 9:40 a.m. about five miles east of Alum Rock, at a depth of five miles.

    The man was found unresponsive on Elkhorn Boulevard. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    STOCKTON (CBS13) — The mother of the Stockton twins reported missing in January will be back in court on Monday.
    Jury selection will begin in the child endangerment case against Princess Canez-Walker.
    Setina and Ren Weddles, both 20-months-old, were reported missing Jan. 4 after their parents were found inside a car full of weapons and drugs.

    PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia’s police commissioner on Saturday defended officers who arrested two black men at a Starbucks, prompting accusations of racism on social media, concern from the mayor and an apology from the company.

    MANTECA  (CBS13) — Firefighters are on edge tonight in Manteca, after flames blew through part of a construction site Sunday morning.
    It happened at the Tesoro apartment complex on Van Ryan Avenue and East Atherton Road.
