    I-80 In Sierra Reopened Following Cleanup Of Mudslide, Downed Lines
    DONNER PASS (CBS13) – Caltrans is reopening westbound Interstate 80 after a mudslide had the road closed for hours.
    A mudslide and downed power lines near Truckee forced authorities to close both directions of the roadway Sunday night. Crews managed to clear the downed lines by Monday morning, allowing the eastbound side of I-80 to be reopened.
    It took a while longer for crews to clear the mudslide that closed the westbound side.

    The scene is near Garden Highway and Northgate Boulevard.

    YUBA COUNTY (CBS13) — Heavy rains and wind brought flooding and other concerns to the area on Sunday.
    Simpson Lane was closed out of concern for significant flood water expected to come through. About four to seven feet of water was possible.
    The roof of a former auto shop in Yuba City collapsed under heavy rain and ponding on the roof. The former tenants had left months ago, otherwise someone could have been seriously injured.

    CALAVERAS COUNTY (CBS13) — Sunday’s storm has claimed an iconic Calaveras County tree.
    The Pioneer Cabin tree, known for having a hole that allowed visitors to drive or walk underneath it, was toppled by the storm, the Calaveras Big Trees Association posted on Facebook.The hole in the tree was cut in the 1880s at the request of James Sperry, founder of the Murphys Hotel, to compete with nearby Yosemite’s drive-through trees.
