  NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) – The storm that rolled through over the weekend is making for some dramatic scenes in nature, but authorities are warning people to look from a distance so they don’t become part of a dramatic rescue.

• I-80 In Sierra Reopened Following Cleanup Of Mudslide, Downed Lines

  DONNER PASS (CBS13) – Caltrans is reopening westbound Interstate 80 after a mudslide had the road closed for hours.
  A mudslide and downed power lines near Truckee forced authorities to close both directions of the roadway Sunday night. Crews managed to clear the downed lines by Monday morning, allowing the eastbound side of I-80 to be reopened.
  It took a while longer for crews to clear the mudslide that closed the westbound side.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Crews have rescued a man trapped by rising waters along the American River Monday morning.
  The scene is near Garden Highway and Northgate Boulevard.

  The Washoe Sheriff says multiple vehicles are stuck on Henness Pass Road.

  NEVADA CITY (CBS13) – A creek bed near Lefty’s Grill turned into a raging river during Sunday’s storm, damaging the local favorite restaurant.
  The raging water hammered the restaurant’s patio. Water even started seeping through the floor into the dining area and kitchen, forcing the business to close.

• Roof Collapses At Former Yuba City Auto Shop

  YUBA COUNTY (CBS13) — Heavy rains and wind brought flooding and other concerns to the area on Sunday.
  Simpson Lane was closed out of concern for significant flood water expected to come through. About four to seven feet of water was possible.
  The roof of a former auto shop in Yuba City collapsed under heavy rain and ponding on the roof. The former tenants had left months ago, otherwise someone could have been seriously injured.

• Pioneer Cabin Tree Falls In Calaveras County During Storm

  CALAVERAS COUNTY (CBS13) — Sunday’s storm has claimed an iconic Calaveras County tree.
  The Pioneer Cabin tree, known for having a hole that allowed visitors to drive or walk underneath it, was toppled by the storm, the Calaveras Big Trees Association posted on Facebook.The hole in the tree was cut in the 1880s at the request of James Sperry, founder of the Murphys Hotel, to compete with nearby Yosemite’s drive-through trees.

  FAIR OAKS (CBS13) — A Fair Oaks woman says the U.S. Postal Service delivered death to her dog.
  Julie Brown says a postal worker threw a package containing powerful medication into her front yard and her service dog in training ate it. Since the bag wouldn’t fit inside her mailbox, the postal worker left it inside her front gate where no one saw it before her dog Nahla tore into it.
