• 2 Dead In South Sacramento House Fire

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A man and a woman have died after a house fire, Sacramento Fire officials said on Saturday.
  The fire broke out at around 12:10 a.m. on Saturday at 190 Creekside Circle.
  Firefighters say a 76-year-old woman and an 87-year-old man were killed in the fire.
  The cause is under investigation and the identities of the deceased have not been disclosed.
  A firefighter also suffered minor burn injuries.

  MODESTO (CBS13) – A woman was left stranded at a supermarket while thieves ransacked her home.
  It happened off of Floyd Avenue Wednesday, after grocery shopping she realized her keys were gone and so was her car.

• Sacramento City Councilman Proposes Portable Solution For Homeless Crisis

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento City Councilman Jeff Harris is proposing movable, stackable metal homes as a solution to Sacramento’s housing crisis.
  The steel-framed units are 160 square feet and include a bathroom, closet, kitchen, and bed.
  Harris says he’s talked with the owner of “Panoramic Interests” that designed the units, and took a tour in a model.

  NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) — Two teens are being remembered by their family and community after they died in a crash along Highway 49 on Thursday.
  CBS 13 has learned Joe Rantz and Jude Douden were on their way to work after school when they lost control in the rain and crashed.

  DAVIS (CBS13) — Davis police are investigating a report of an attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl.
  It happened Wednesday near Oceana Way and Arena Road, an area near two schools in an upscale neighborhood.

  LOS ANGELES (AP) – Uber’s self-driving cars will keep ferrying passengers around San Francisco, the ride-hailing company said Friday, despite California regulators threatening legal action if the service is not suspended.
  Uber began the pilot project Wednesday with a few Volvo SUVs that are tricked out with a suite of sensors allowing them to steer, brake and accelerate. A person sits behind the wheel, just in case.

• Police: West Sacramento Man Found With Child Porn, Again

  WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A man accused of taking pictures of children and having child pornography has been arrested again after a search.
  David Smith was arrested after more child pornography was found during a search on Wednesday. He was previously released on his own recognizance, but subject to wearing an ankle monitor and a searches of his home and digital content.
  He is now being held on $300,000 bail for his first charge and an additional $300,000 bail for the new arrest.
