  SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – The nation’s largest public pension system is giving up tobacco.
  The California Public Employees’ Retirement System decided Monday to sell its last $550 million worth of tobacco-related investments nearly two decades after trading away the bulk of them.

  GRASS VALLEY (CBS13) – At least one person has died after a fire at a home in Grass Valley early Monday afternoon.
  The scene is near Butler Street and Condon Park.
  Firefighters responded to the scene and found smoke coming from the home.

• California Population Grows To 39.4 Million

  SACRAMENTO (AP) – California’s population has grown to 39.4 million.
  The state Department of Finance said Monday that the state added 295,000 people between July 1, 2015, and July 1, 2016.
  The department also says the birth rate declined to 12.42 births per 1,000 population from 13.69 births per 1,000 in the 2010 census.

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – An employee at a south Sacramento business was shot by a suspect wielding a BB gun, police say.
  The incident happened Sunday afternoon. According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers were called to a business along the 7100 block of 24th Street for a reported robbery.

  STOCKTON (CBS13) – A 25-year-old man is dead after a crash in Stockton Sunday night.
