  • Colts kicker may lose out on $500K bonus after Bills game

    ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri might not get a $500,000 bonus after Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
    Vinatieri needs to successfully make 90 percent of his field goal attempts in order to get that bonus.
    Before this Sunday’s loss to the Bills, Vinatieri had made 95.7 percent of them, according to CBS Sports contributor Joel Corry. After the Bills game, Corry says Vinatieri is now at 88 percent.

  • Minnesota governor to name Franken’s replacement Wednesday

    ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton will name his pick to replace Sen. Al Franken on Wednesday.
    Franken announced his resignation last week amid a growing cloud of sexual misconduct allegations. The second-term Democrat’s official resignation date has not yet been set.
    Dayton’s pick will serve through next year’s election, when voters will pick a candidate to finish Franken’s current term ending in 2020.

  • Judge denies request to move Ciminelli case to Buffalo

    NEW YORK (WIVB) – A judge has denied a request for the case against Louis Ciminelli and others to be moved from Manhattan to Buffalo.
    Ciminelli and two other executives with LPCiminelli, Michael Laipple and Kevin Schuler, resigned from the company earlier this year. The three face corruption charges related to the Buffalo Billion SolarCity project.
    Ciminelli, Laipple and Schuler allegedly obtained the project through an unfair bidding process, according to a court document.

    EAST AURORA, N.Y. (WIVB) — The East Aurora Police Department arrested a man after a woman claimed he stabbed her on Monday night.
    Police received a call from a 47-year-old woman around 9:45 p.m. She told officials that she had been stabbed by a man in their Oakwood Ave. residence.
    When officers responded, they found Christopher Giafaglione, 48, in a second-story bedroom. He was taken into custody following a brief struggle.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences had it’s grand opening on Tuesday.
    The new $375 million facility is eight stories tall and 628,000 square feet.
    The school says it will bring 2,000 UB faculty, staff and students to downtown Buffalo every day.
    The grand opening ceremony took place at 9:30 a.m. on Main St. in Buffalo.
  • Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb to run for NY governor

    CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb announced he will run for Governor of New York on Tuesday.
    The Republican became a member of the New York State Assembly by winning a special election in 2000. He has been re-elected nine times since then.
    In 2009, he became Minority Leader.
    Kolb will challenge the current governor, Democrat Andrew Cuomo in 2018.

    AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 64-year-old man was killed Monday night when he was struck by a vehicle.
    Around 9:30 p.m., Amherst police say the man was walking across a parking lot on Main St. when he was hit by a 23-year-old Buffalo woman.
    The pedestrian, later identified as Williamsville resident Michael Boncore, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
    The woman who hit him has not been charged.

    (CBS NEWS) – Just one day ahead of Alabama’s special election, different polls are yielding widely different results for who will win the Senate seat: Democratic candidate Doug Jones or Republican candidate Roy Moore.
