  Anyone who lived in Stanmore during the 1980s will probably recognise plenty in these photographs.
  The Broadway was already a busy shopping area, but it looked very different to the street we know today. Independent shops filled much of the parade, banks still had prominent branches on the high street and cars were parked almost everywhere.
  The pictures also capture Stanmore during a decade when some fairly big changes were taking place.

• Sadiq Khan rejects calls for Bus Driver Bill of Rights in TfL contracts

  Sir Sadiq Khan has rejected calls to establish basic rights for bus drivers in Transport for London’s (TfL) written contracts with operators.
  The Mayor of London said that a so-called Bill of Rights – such as the legislation proposed by the London Assembly in July – could be “out of date very soon” and that City Hall needs to consistently “evolve” its stance to best serve bus drivers.

• Harrow musician helps raise almost £34,000 for Nepal flood relief at Stanmore event

  A musician born and raised in Harrow has helped raise almost £34,000 for families affected by devastating floods in Nepal following a major fundraising event in Stanmore.
  Bhavik Haria organised A Night of Bhajans for Nepal at Stanmore Swaminarayan Mandir on 17 September, bringing together 18 UK-based artists for a single, unbroken performance.
  More than 500 people attended the sold-out evening, which was held in support of Sewa International UK’s Nepal Floods Appeal.

• Harrow Council plans £12.6m replacement of 86 vehicles

  Harrow Council is being asked to approve almost £12.6 million to replace 86 vehicles used for services across the borough.
  The plans include new refuse trucks, tippers, vans, cars, cranes and other vehicles used for services including waste collection, street cleansing and grounds maintenance.
