• El Dorado County Murder Victim’s Car Found In Sacramento, Still No Arrests Made

    EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) – The missing car of an El Dorado County woman murdered last month has been found in Sacramento, detectives say.
    Helen Hoover was found dead in the El Dorado County home back on Dec. 18. Her car was missing, but it didn’t look like anyone had forced their way into her home.
    An autopsy determined that Hoover had died from blunt force trauma.

  • Laguna Creek High Band Volunteer, 24, Arrested On Suspicion Of Sex With A Minor

    ELK GROVE (CBS13) – A man who volunteered with the Laguna Creek High School band has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a minor.
    Elk Grove police say they were alerted about the alleged relationship between 24-year-old Lucas Melville and an underage person back on Jan. 9.
    Investigators found that the incidents had happened away from Laguna Creek High’s campus, but still in Elk Grove. Officers soon arrested Melville at his Elk Grove residence.

  • Semi-Truck Hangs Off Overpass After Business 80 Crash

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A semi-truck is partially hanging over the overpass along westbound Business 80 near Watt Avenue.
    The truck is leaking liquified natural gas, authorities say.

  • Midnight Deadline To Sign Up For Insurance Through Covered California

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) –  The clock is ticking if you want to sign up for health insurance through the Covered California marketplace.
    The deadline is midnight Tuesday.
    Officials say enrollment is down about 10 percent from last year. Congress eliminating the fines for not having health insurance are among the reasons officials cited for the decline.

    VACAVILLE (CBS13) – The man suspected of stabbing two people at a burning home in Vacaville has died after a shooting involving police.
    The manhunt for the suspect 38-year-old Nathaniel Holland came to an end shortly after 11 p.m. Monday in the area of Mason and Depot streets.
    Police say when they confronted Holland, a police K9 was stabbed and shots were fired. A Fairfield officer was the one who fired at Holland, investigators say.
