  • Police: Deadly Shooting Suspect Tried To Hide With Students

    10 p.m. UPDATE: A suspect tried to hide with students who were evacuated from a high school football game after a deadly shooting.
    A 16-year-old boy was killed and an 18-year-old male was critically injured in a shooting near Bell Avenue and Washington Street. Two suspects were arrested following the shooting.
    The shooting prompted a lockdown at the nearby junior varsity high school football game between Bethel High School and Armijo High School. Students were evacuated to a nearby gym.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Immigrants living in California without full legal status could serve in some appointed offices under a bill the state Senate sent Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – California utilities could sell bonds and pass on the cost to their customers to help cover debt incurred when their equipment starts wildfires, under proposed legislation outlined on Friday.
    The proposal is part of a wide-ranging plan to help shield utilities from bankruptcy and better prepare the state to deal with massive wildfires. The plan needs legislative approval next week but Republicans and Democrats appeared to be on board.
