  • Placer County Facing Poll Worker Shortage

    PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) – Placer County is looking for volunteers to staff its polling places on Election Day.
    The County Elections Office put out a notice Friday that it’s facing a shortage of volunteers to work in its 231 precincts on Tuesday, June 5.
    It specifically needs bilingual Spanish- and Korean-speaking volunteers.
    Election workers can be paid up to $120.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Farm-to-Fork Festival in Sacramento is getting bigger.

  • Man, 18, Arrested After Attempted Home Invasion Robbery At Citrus Heights Retirement Community

    CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) – An 18-year-old man is under arrest after police said he broke into a retirement home and tried to rob the place.
    The incident happened early Friday morning at the Crosswoods Oaks retirement community along Crosswoods Circle in Citrus Heights.
    Citrus Heights police say the teenage suspect broke into a residence and tried to steal several items. The resident inside was asleep, but at some point during the incident the suspect allegedly assaulted the person.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The first Cracker Barrel in Sacramento will not open until mid-August due to weather delays. The Arden Arcade restaurant was supposed to open in mid-June.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The California State Senate passed a bill to extend last call until 4 am.
    Senate Bill 905 would require the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to conduct a pilot program to allow licensed  businesses to sell alcohol until 4 am. Currently the cut-off time is 2 am.
