    ELK GROVE (CBS13) – 8 ducklings were rescued from a storm drain in Elk Grove after the mama duck was accidentally hit by a car.
    Elk Grove PD posted pictures of an officer and firefighters from Cosumnes Fire Department working together Monday morning to save the ducklings from a storm drain near Laguna Springs Dr. and W. Stockton Blvd.

    NEVADA CITY (CBS13) – An Oroville man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his ex-wife.
    The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office says, back on Feb. 6, a woman was found shot to death along the 10000 block of North Bloomfield Road in Nevada City. She had been shot multiple times, detectives say, and the death was classified as a homicide.

    FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — Four people were injured in a two-car crash involving a California Highway Patrol vehicle on Interstate 80 on Monday.
    The CHP says one of its vehicles was rear-ended by a white Mitsubishi Mirage on eastbound I-80 near Fairfield at around 3:40 p.m. The officer was pulled over on the right-hand shoulder.

    Perry Choy, a 20-year San Francisco firefighter, died last year after a massive stroke. His organs were donated, including his heart, which helped save the life of the Oroville man.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Driving while using a cell phone may now add a point to your driving record.
    The California State Senate unanimously passed SB 1030 on Monday. It would make distracted driving a moving violation, not just an infraction.   • Rear View Cameras Now Required in All New Vehicles

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Starting May 1 all new vehicles will need to come equipped with a rear view camera.
    The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved the new safety standard in 2014. It’s been slowly phased in during the years that followed. Rear view camera images are generally displayed in the dashboard of a vehicle. Some just show a simple images, while others show color-coded lines to assist with parking and distance.
