• Proposed Tax On Services Could Hurt Small Business Owners

    (CBM) – A proposed state bill designed to restructure California’s tax system could end up hurting small businesses. Senate Bill 640, which was introduced by State Sen. Robert M. Hertzberg (D-Los Angeles,) would raise taxes on services such as haircuts, and beauty shop and veterinary visits.
    According to the bill, the funds raised would also help offset a downturn suffered from the Great Recession during which state revenue to the general fund dropped by $20 billion annually.

    Pilot Dies In Crash At Oakdale Airport
    STANISLAUS COUNTY ( CBS13) — An investigation continues into a fatal crash at the Oakdale airport in Stanislaus County.
    The pilot was trying to land his plane Saturday morning when he crashed, causing the plane to go up in flames. The pilot did not survive.
    Police released the body to coroner but have not released his identity. The only description given was he was an experienced pilot who has been using this airport for years.

    SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — California wildlife advocates say they are searching for seven gray wolves that haven’t been spotted in months.
    The San Francisco Chronicle reports Saturday (http://bit.ly/2mUMSjo) the first wolf pack to make the state home in nearly a century hasn’t been seen since May 2016.
    The family, known as the Shasta Pack, disappeared from southeastern Siskiyou County over the past year.
