  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — CBS13 is taking a closer look at a troubling trend involving suspects escaping California Highway Patrol custody.
  Over the last 10 months, there have been five incidents of someone in custody escaping, and in two of those cases the suspects fled in the officer’s car.

• Gun Sales Soar As New California Gun Laws Go Into Effect

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The California Department of Justice says sales of semi-automatic rifles have more than doubled since last year from 154,000 to over 365,000. One reason is that some of those rifles will now be classified as an assault weapon, which are banned in California. They are one of many new changes to guns laws coming January 1.

• Man Found Shot To Death In South Sacramento Marijuana Grow House

  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a man shot inside a duplex in South Sacramento on Friday.
  The home, they say, is also marijuana grow house.
  Deputies say the man was already dead when they arrived.
